This product is intended for vehicles without airbag, this
has a collapsible joint just like the OE unit in the
unlikely event of a crash your steering coulmn can collapse
to absorb some of the impact. On vehicles with airbag (US
imported models mostly) the joint is fixed and does not
collapse in a crash. You can retrofit this to be used on
vehicles with airbag, if you drill out the center studs and
replace them with nuts and bolts the steering joint can now
be used on cars with airbag. The coulmn that is intended
for use with airbag is originally 6.7mm shorter in total
length compared to the non-airbag version. If you add 2
washers between the joint you drilled out when you install
the bolts this will shorten to total length and make it
easier to install.
